Coach Kyle Bennett is a local coach that has seen success at the club and collegiate level. Coach Bennett is entering his third year as the owener/operator of the Gavilan Hornets. Under his tutelage, the Hornets have had countless success with his teams winning 30% of the tournaments they participated in over the last two seasons. Kyle’s attention to detail and fundamentals of the game allows all of his player to reach their full potential at every level!
Coach Bennett is also currently in his third year as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Gavilan College. Bennett’s pitching staffs have seen huge improvements to their team era and strikeout to walk ratios during his tenure. Last season two of Bennett’s pitchers revived State honors with one being name an All-American & Pitcher of the Year in the Coast Conference and the other being named to the All Northern California Team.
Camp will Teach:
- Offensive and defensive fundamentals
- Position specific training (infield and outfield)
- Instruction of both batting and pitching through competitive drills.
Sand Volleyball Camps:
July 25 – 29 & Aug 8-12
Sessions will be led by Coach Brian Calimpong and assisted by some CHS player. Brian Calimpong has been coaching volleyball 2007. He has held coaching positions at Gilroy High Schools, Garlic City Volleyball Club, Hollister Volleyball Club, Brownell School. He also is a lead clinic instructor for Adrenaline Volleyball Club fall indoor clinics as well as thier head 14-1 coach. Brian also just helped start AVC sand club this summer with a better than expected turn out. He can see sand volleyball exploding in popularity with local youth.
He is gold medal squared certified, USA volleyball CAP indoor certified, USA volleyball beach and indoor impact certified. Camp will be designed to meet the needs of the beginning or less experience (middle school and younger kids or high school athletes with minimal experience or those who need a basic skills brush up).
Players will focus on the development of basic skills of passing, setting, hitting, serving, and communicating.

Pacific Point is excited to have Gavilan College Head Women’s Basketball coach and Pacific Point Athletic Director, Erik Nelson run a basketball fundamentals camp. Coach Nelson is passionate about teaching players the necessary fundamentals that will create a foundation for success at any level. With attention to detail on both offensive and defensive fundamentals.
Players will focus on:
- Perimeter and Post Footwork -Shooting Mechanics
- Proper Passing and Decision – Making – On ball defense
- Off ball movement and shooting off screens – Rebounding
- Help Defensive Rotations – Leadership Characteristics
Strenght, Conditioning, and Explosiveness Training Camp:
Aug 3 – 7
Strength camp will have two sessions 9-11am and 1-3pm – choose between a two hour am or pm session
Coach Espinosa is the Head soccer Coach at Gavilan College and a personal certified trainer.
The sessions will focus on improving the athletes explosiveness and strength as well as cardio endurance. Workouts will have footwork and drills that will benefit athletes for every sport and will be sure to challenge campers in a positive and rewarding way. This camp will be a great way for serious athletes to get an edge on their competition in the off-season. With athletes training within their sport year round, it is often overlooked how developing a strength and agility off-season training program can create increased success for every student-athlete.

Cost for this camp will be $250 with the same times of 9am-12:00pm.
This special offering will be led by Amanda Groce of Johnny 6 Stables. She has been teaching students and training horses for well over 25 years. She has taught many students, ranging from beginner trail pleasure riding to the competitive level at the World Championships.

Johnny 6 Stables is offering their Summer Camp which is perfect for students who want to ride every day and have a blast enjoying and being around horses!
This camp includes:
• daily riding lessons
• learning to ride walk and trot (possible canter)
• trail riding
• horse safety and care
• learning about tack and equipment and its care
• grooming and haltering
• saddling and bridling
• equine veterinary medicine
• equine farriery (shoeing and hoof care)
